About

Cerebral Reviews is the brainchild of a group of editors who are dedicated to truth in reviewing. Each member is, or has been, a bona fide editor with a publisher. Their combined years in this business are in the double digits.

This website is their answer to reader driven reviews that do not seem to conform to any sort of criteria for what constitutes a good book. Too many times, they have seen reviews of poorly written books garnering top honors on a review site. These reviews are then trotted out as proof that the book was well-written. In truth, these reviews are simply given a rating based on whether or not the reviewer liked the book, not whether the book was well-written with sound structure and plot. And sadly, it often seems as if the ratings are based on how popular authors are with the reviewers.

The editors of Cerebral Reviews do not care whether an author is new or old, popular or hated, well-known or obscure. They are not bribeable with good will or pimping. In fact, they prefer to stay anonymous in order to further the veracity of their reviews and this site.

Each week they will post at least one book review. They’ll tell you the strengths and weaknesses of the story from the structure to the plot and dialog. They’ll point out the most glaring errors and the most perfect prose. They will give you the truth, no matter how much it might hurt. They are the critique partner you’ll wish you had before you submitted your manuscript!

Another feature of Cerebral Reviews is the “Week in Reviews”. This is a comparison of a review by another site with the Cerebral Editors’ review. They will show you the best and worst reviews they found in the last week and compare it with their own review to explain why they agree or disagree.

They are irreverent, honest, and willing to do something very few reviewers will do… tell the truth about a book.
